Our goal has never changed and since moving we have undertaken several new projects to reduces plastic pollution in other ways. We are continually finding new projects and products that don’t rely on single use plastics. Products that are of higher quality and longer lasting that are made of better materials. For instance we now stock stainless steel straws in a cute save our oceans cotton pouch. Straws are one of the most common plastic pollution found washed up on beachs all over the world. Every small step helps.
We have worked with Refill Ireland to support businesses’ participation in the refill.ie initiative where people can access a comprehensive network of tap water refill stations. We are partnering with TerraCycle which aims to Eliminate the Idea of Waste® by recycling the “non-recyclable.” Whether it’s coffee capsules from your home, pens from a school, crisps packets or plastic gloves from a manufacturing facility.
We have also educated local businesses, groups and schools – including supporting ‘Green-Schools’ – Ireland͛’s leading environmental management and award programme and help local schools achieve their flag for the Litter & Waste theme. We have stopped balloon releases, been involved in clean ups, been invited to do radio interviews and encouraged recycled and eco-friendly alternatives.
